January 2018 – Hero

The Paso Robles Art Association’s January 2018 Showroom Gallery exhibit is ‘Hero’.  The PRAA exhibit is scheduled in parallel to the Studios on The Park sponsored exhibit ‘Veterans Voices’.

What is a hero? The word hero comes from the Greek word meaning protector or defender.  Today, we use the term “hero” to describe a person admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.  All cultures have heroes, and can be any age, shape or size - fictional and real.  A hero is called to action, accepts the challenge, undertakes the deed, overcomes obstacles, survives to complete the task and returns with the prize/attains the goal.  Each hero shares the same qualities no matter the cultural setting – a focus on the wellbeing of others.

Why are heroes important to us? A hero’s actions connect us to the many feelings that life creates – both good and bad – awe, love, spirituality, pain, suffering, unity, hope.  A hero’s actions inspire us.

Why do we need heroes?  Heroes show us that anything is possible. Employ your vision to show us what ‘Hero’ means to you!

Bring your creative talents together for a powerful artistic compliment to the Veterans Voices show.  In addition to your art, we ask you to provide a short paragraph about your piece – give us the story behind your piece; share your thoughts on how it represents “Hero”.

Viewers and collectors love to better understand your artistic inspiration.

All mediums are invited.  Begin your creative process now!
